Chapter 2:
Basic requirements
- The CTU guidelines give examples of the acceleration forces. This acceleration can occur during transport operations via sea and during handling.
- The physical stresses vary, in their amount and intensity, for loads for road vehicles.
- In addition, as the handling stresses turn out to be higher than the values given in the guidelines, the loading speed at the terminals is faster and shorter.
- The average turnover time of a container on a seagoing vessel has been reduced from 5 minutes to approx. 90 seconds in 5 years.
- There is also a trend towards more frequent handling processes in the transport process.
