Chapter 5:
Characteristics of goods transport units
- Based on the loads specified (previous chapter) and the intended purpose, CTUs must present certain characteristics in order to guarantee secure transport/handling.
- This chapter covers the requirements that must be met for freight containers, vehicles and swap bodies.
- With the exception of loading platforms (a container floor without walls), packed freight containers can be stacked. Use can be made of this option in storage areas on load and in ships during a sea voyage.
