CTU Operator

Consigner
CTU Operator:
The owner or lessor of the CTU.
- They must make sure that the CTU meets any applicable building, equipment and regular conditions.

Packer
Consigner:
- Prepares the load and supplies the CTU.
- Prepares the relevant information on stowing the load in the CTU.
- Provides the stowed load units in proper condition (EUMOS 40509).

Carrier
Packer:
- Stows the load properly and securely.
- Seals and marks the CTU on the outside.
- When packaging dangerous goods, provides a signed container/package certificate.

Consignee
Carrier:
- Transports the CTU at all stages.
- Secures the CTU for transportation.
- Transports the CTU via road, rail, barge and sea.
- Observe the transport provisions.

Shipper
Consignee:
- Receives the CTU or the load.
- Is responsible for occupational safety while unloading.
- Incoterms® must be observed.

Shipper:
Organises the transport and makes sure that…
- suitable CTUs are used,
- all relevant documents for the shipper and packer are provided,
- the gross mass of the CTU is correct,
- all information and documents from the carrier are transmitted correctly.

- They are required to prevent the transmission and proliferation of pests using appropriate measures.
