Provisions for Large Placards

When Dangerous Goods are transported in Cargo Transport Units (CTUs), large hazard labels shall be applied to the transport unit unless the labels affixed to the packages are clearly visible from the outside of the CTU.
  • Placards shall correspond to the primary and subsidiary risk of the goods contained in the CTU
  • Placarding shall withstand at least three month's immersion in the sea without becoming illegible
  • All placards, orange panels, marks and signs shall be removed from the CTU as soon as both the Dangerous Goods and their residues are discharged
  • Placards shall not be less than 250 mm x 250 mm, with a line of the same color as the symbol running 12.5 mm inside the edge and display the number of the hazard class in digits not less than 25 mm high
