3. Packing Chemicals (6/12)

General Provisions concerning Packing Instructions

The specific packing instructions defined in the IMDG Code Dangerous Goods List (columns 8-11) must be applied for Dangerous Goods in classes 1 to 9.
If substances being transported are liable to become liquid during transport certain packagings shall not be used (listing see right or IMDG Code 4.1.3.4).

Pressure receptacles for liquids and solids have to conform to special provisions, e.g
  • have a minimum test pressure of 0.6 MPa
  • are provided with an emergency pressure relief device
  • The level of filling shall not exceed 95% of the capacity of the pressure receptacle at 50ºC.

Packagings from the list above shall not be used when the substances being transported are liable to become liquid during transport.
