Class 7

Radioactive substances
Radioactive material comprises substances that contain radio-nuclides in which both activity concentration and total activity per consignment exceed the values laid down in the ADR.

The following basic values for individual radionuclides are defined in the ADR (Table 2.2.7.2.2.1):
  • Activity values A1 and A2 in TBq
  • Activity concentration limits for exempt material in Bq/g
  • Activity limits for exempt consignments in Bq
Substances of this class are not assigned to packaging groups.
Examples:
UN 2978 Radioactive material, uranium hexafluoride, fissile
UN 2915 Radioactive material, Type A consignment
